Founded in 1968, Cub Scout Pack 389 has been a pillar of youth development and community engagement for over half a century. From modest beginnings, our Pack has grown into a vibrant, family‑centered unit that is proud to serve its community with purpose.
Our mission aligns with that of Scouting America: to help young people develop character, citizenship, and personal fitness. Through fun, hands‑on experiences, we aim to guide our Scouts toward becoming caring, capable, and confident citizens of their community.
Pack 389 welcomes boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade, regardless of school or background. We proudly serve families from Philip R. Smith Elementary School, Orchard Hill Elementary School, and the surrounding South Windsor area.
Our Scouts are grouped into age-appropriate dens, each led by trained adult volunteers. Together, we explore fun, educational experiences in a supportive environment.
The entire Pack gathers monthly for pack meetings, and we frequently host family outings, service projects, camping weekends, and more.
Longstanding Community Roots – Established in 1968, we have a deep connection to our community and a strong tradition of family involvement.

Inclusive & Supportive – We welcome Scouts from all backgrounds and provide a safe, respectful space to grow and learn.
Our Pack is run entirely by committed parent volunteers who bring energy, creativity, and care to everything we do. All adult leaders are trained and background-checked to ensure a safe and enriching experience for every Scout.
Our Pack is proudly chartered by the Philip R. Smith Elementary PTO, which provides ongoing support, resources, and a vital connection to the school community
