Adventure starts here. Growth lasts a lifetime.
At Pack 389, we're proud to welcome all elementary-aged children — boys and girls from Kindergarten through 5th grade — into a fun, inclusive, and values-driven scouting experience right here in South Windsor, Connecticut.
Whether your child is just starting their journey in Kindergarten or preparing for middle school in 5th grade, Cub Scouts offers a supportive environment where they can explore the world around them, build confidence, and develop lifelong friendships.
Cub Scouts is more than just camping and crafts (though we do plenty of both!). It’s a place where kids grow — in character, curiosity, and capability. With every badge earned, every skill learned, and every obstacle overcome, your child will discover new strengths and learn what it means to be a leader, a teammate, and a problem solver.
At Pack 389, we focus on helping each scout:
Grow in confidence and independence
Learn responsibility and respect
Build friendships and community spirit
Gain real-world skills in a safe, encouraging space
How often do you meet?
During the school year, scouts usually attend 3-4 activities per month. That’s comprised of:
1-2 grade-specific meetings per month; typically on a Tues or Wed, 6-7pm.
1 meeting per month for all grades combined (K-5); typically the 3rd Wednesday, 6-7pm
and 1 additional activity, usually on a weekend (like a hike or a campout, etc)
During the summer, vacation plans make meeting schedules a bit trickier. So we dial back the
number of meetings and focus on 1-2 bigger (optional) activities per month, which are usually on
a Saturday.
